Sweet/Carb Cravings
Sweet and/or Carbohydrate cravings are the result of a rise and fall of blood sugar. Your body's top priority is to make energy. Your body needs energy in order to perform any and all functions to keep you alive. Your body will sacrifice everything else to make energy. Think of this like keeping a woodstove fire burning. To get the fire started (energy produced), you use kindling. Kindling is like complex carbohydrates such as whole grains and vegetables. It produces energy fairly quickly but will also drop fairly quickly. Refined carbohydrates, such as sugar and white flour, are like putting paper on the fire. It gets the energy boosted quickly but doesn't keep it there. Energy and blood sugar falls quickly and you crave more paper to get the energy your mood back up again. Logs are like protein. They burn slow and long. Without logs on your fire, you have to keep adding kindling. With logs, you are keeping the energy burning evenly for a longer period of time. Now, if you add alcohol to your fire, you get a huge boost and then a serious drop. To cut cravings, it is essential that you eat protein every two hours, and never eat carbohydrates without protein. This will keep your energy and blood sugar and mood on an even keel throughout the day. We also have great products to help you curb those cravings. .
