Low Vitamin D

Many people are low in Vitamin D. The only way to get Vitamin D is from the sun, and the sun has become feared and avoided. It is commonly thought that milk is a good source of Vitamin D and Calcium.  Milk, however, is very difficult for humans to break down and absorb.  The pasteurizing destroys the natural enzymes, vitamins and good bacteria and the cows are given antibiotics and synthetic estrogen that are then passed on to us.  Synthetic Vit D is then added back in.  Lack of Vitamin D is linked to all types of cancer, autoimmune disorders, and depression. A simple blood test will determine if your level is adequate. The correct test is 25-OH-Vitamin D. Optimal levels are 45-100 ng/ml. Vitamin D supplementation should be 15,000-20,000 IUs of Vit D3 which is cholecalciferol for 3-4 weeks and then retest. For more information on Vitamin D go to http://vitaminDcouncil.com.
